With the innovative “Dance and Dine” concept at Papillon Restaurant near Zoologischer Garten, Peak Hospitality, under the project leadership of Friederike and Felix Brandts, has set new standards. Spanning 820 m², Papillon combines gourmet cuisine and bar service with a unique feature: after dinner, the restaurant transforms into a dance floor playing music at Dancehall level.

The visionary design concept and creative ideation were developed by renowned Amsterdam-based designer Dan O’Kelly, known for his work with Tommy Hilfiger in office and hospitality environments. Working Islands GmbH was engaged for detailed interior design planning, project management, and on-site implementation support.

The restaurant occupies two adjacent S-Bahn arches, connected by a shared space at the western end and an adjoining terrace. A key challenge was the full integration of building services from the ground up—a task usually eased by existing infrastructure in such projects. Additionally, strict requirements from the landlord, Deutsche Bahn AG, mandate regular inspections of the building structure for safety reasons. All fixtures adjacent to the building walls were designed for easy access during maintenance. For other walls, a specially developed plaster was applied that reveals potential cracks, replacing the usual plaster which would conceal them. All seating and bar installations were designed to be opened, dismantled, or moved for inspection purposes.

The menu at Papillon reflects the creative vision of Nadav Kundel, the innovative Chef de Cuisine who also shapes the atmosphere at Brasserie Scirocco. His culinary approach perfectly complements Papillon’s unique ambiance.
