The Falling Walls Foundation is an international platform for the interdisciplinary exchange of ideas and concepts that promote societal progress and transformation. It was founded by Sebastian Turner, inspired by the historic event of the Berlin Wall falling in 1989. The foundation's central question is: "Which walls will fall next?" Every year, the foundation organizes numerous events where scientific, cultural, and societal topics are discussed and analyzed with an international and interdisciplinary approach. The coordination and implementation of these events are entirely managed by the foundation.

At the end of 2017, the foundation decided to seek new office spaces to optimize spatial usage and improve functionality and atmosphere. The goal was not only to create more efficient working conditions but also to design a space that reflects the values and philosophy of the Falling Walls Foundation—transparency, agility, and innovation. The design of the new office was entrusted to Working Islands GmbH. The aim was to foster a modern, flexible work environment featuring "hot desks" and a non-hierarchical seating and spatial concept. This approach emphasizes openness and collaboration, aligning with the foundation's dynamic and visionary mission.

Another key focus of the project was the integration of existing furniture and equipment. Despite their age and origins in an outdated design concept, many of these elements were incorporated into the new design. Primarily for economic reasons, a sustainable approach was developed to repurpose older furnishings without compromising the modernity and functionality of the new concept.

The result is a contemporary office space that embodies the foundation's values both physically and atmospherically, providing a solid foundation for continued interdisciplinary and international collaboration.
