The Collab Bar in Hamburg is the result of a collaborative initiative by three industry insiders with strong ties to the local bar and gastronomy scene. The project’s goal was to create a distinctive, brand-ready concept integrated sensitively into the urban environment of the Reeperbahn district — carefully tailored to the location, target audience, and surroundings.
During the planning phase, existing conditions were strategically leveraged: for the 70 m² space, a compact spatial concept was developed that maximizes functionality and comfort despite technical constraints — including a bar area limited to just 7 m².
The seating areas are primarily located in the split-level basement and were architecturally differentiated while maintaining a coherent design approach. Clear zoning and a deliberate material and color strategy provide orientation and atmosphere: the bar area features light surfaces of Corian, tiles, and reflective lighting, while the seating benches opposite offer warm, understated coziness with textiles, natural wood, and linoleum.
The low ceiling height was conceptually embraced: instead of conventional ceiling lights, a sophisticated lighting system was developed that zones and accents the space through indirect light sources integrated into the furnishings, while respecting the room’s height.
The result is a space with a clear identity, high operational efficiency, and distinctive design — perfectly tailored for the urban nightlife environment.
